Does your BMW show a restraint-system fault after fitting Recaro, sports or bucket seats, or a harness bar? This remote service provides technical assessment and, where the vehicle, components and documented conversion permit, suitable coding of the vehicle configuration.
Seats, seat belts, belt tensioners, occupant detection and airbags are parts of the restraint system. Coding cannot replace missing or defective hardware and does not make an unsuitable conversion safe or legal for road use. We therefore confirm the order only after reviewing the installed components and intended vehicle use.
Which conversions is this service intended for?
- professionally installed Recaro, sports or bucket seats
- seat conversions with documented brackets, belts and electrical connections
- harness-bar or track conversions where the vehicle configuration has been changed transparently
- diagnosis of restraint-system faults that appeared only after the conversion
Depending on the vehicle, seat, equipment and country, a conversion may be suitable only for motorsport, track or show vehicles. For public-road use, component approval, installation, registration and the effectiveness of all required restraint systems must be clarified beforehand.
What the remote service includes
- pre-assessment using the VIN, vehicle equipment, component information and conversion photos
- reading relevant control units and fault codes
- determining whether a fault is caused by configuration, wiring or hardware
- adaptation of supported vehicle orders and control units to a technically permissible, documented conversion
- final fault-memory and plausibility check
We do not disable intact protective functions to conceal a real defect, incorrect wiring or unsuitable conversion. Recurring faults are not simply deleted. If safe and traceable coding is not possible, we identify the work that must be completed locally.
Information required in advance
- VIN, model, year and market version
- exact designation and part numbers for the seat, bracket, belt system and harness bar
- photos of the installation, connectors and all modified connections
- details of which original airbags, belt tensioners and sensors remain installed
- current warning or diagnostic report, where available
- whether the vehicle is used on public roads, as a show vehicle or only on a closed course
Resistors, emulators or undocumented bridges must be disclosed before assessment. They are not a professional substitute for suitable components and can prevent reliable diagnosis.
Technical requirements for the appointment
- mechanical and electrical conversion is fully completed
- all intended connectors, ground points and wiring have been professionally checked
- Windows laptop with stable internet connection
- suitable diagnostic cable: ENET or K+DCAN depending on the BMW model series
- stable vehicle voltage; the vehicle must not be moved during the appointment
After accident damage, deployed restraints, internal control-unit faults or damaged wiring, repair by a qualified workshop is required first. Remote coding cannot replace this work.
Remote assessment and coding process
- Send vehicle and conversion information before ordering.
- After our technical response, order the product. Appointment selection at purchase is optional; we can also arrange the appointment together afterwards.
- Prepare the laptop, cable and voltage support.
- We connect remotely, read the vehicle configuration and restraint system, and compare the actual condition with the information supplied.
- Only technically traceable supported adaptations are carried out, followed by another diagnostic check.
Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes for a prepared standard case. Incomplete documentation, wiring faults or additional control-unit work may require another appointment or local work.
Not included in the price
- mechanical installation of seats, brackets, belts or harness bars
- repair of airbags, belt tensioners, sensors, control units or wiring
- supply of resistors, emulators or other bypass solutions
- technical reports, registration, operating approval or public-road approval
- a guarantee that every vehicle and aftermarket-component combination can be coded
Read before the conversion: The detailed guide to Recaro, sports and bucket seats in BMW vehicles explains airbag faults, diagnosis, coding limits and required documents.
Frequently asked questions
Can an airbag warning simply be coded out?
A real fault or missing mandatory protective component must not be concealed by disabling monitoring. The cause, conversion and legally permissible vehicle configuration must be clarified first.
Do all existing airbags automatically remain active?
This cannot be promised without assessing the specific conversion. We check accessible control units and change only the agreed configuration; physical operation must be tested professionally.
Is a Recaro or bucket seat road legal after coding?
No. Coding is not approval. Components, installation, belt system and restraint concept must comply with local rules and may require inspection by an approval body.
Can the service be used for BMW E, F and G Series vehicles?
Many model series can be assessed, but not every equipment and component combination can be coded. We decide using the VIN, vehicle data and documented conversion.
