Would you like to use Apple CarPlay in a compatible BMW or MINI without installing an additional display box? Bimmerfit checks the existing NBT EVO head unit and activates the supported factory-style CarPlay integration remotely. Compatibility depends on the head unit, software level, market version and vehicle equipment. The model series alone is not sufficient.

Request a CarPlay compatibility check on WhatsApp before purchasing. Please have the model, production year and clear photos of the main menu and navigation version ready. We confirm the appropriate service first.

Does your vehicle have another navigation system? For a confirmed MGU head unit, see our BMW MGU Apple CarPlay remote activation service. For EntryNav2 / EntryNav EVO without a Wi-Fi connector, our Wi-Fi hardware retrofit in the original head unit, including CarPlay may be appropriate. These are separate services; we determine the suitable option from the head unit actually installed.

Which vehicles may be compatible?

This service is intended for selected BMW F- and G-series vehicles and MINI F-series vehicles equipped with a suitable NBT EVO head unit. Common MINI model codes include F54, F55, F56, F57 and F60. Depending on the production date, the vehicle may instead have EntryNav, EntryNav2, NBT or MGU. We therefore check the individual vehicle before confirming an appointment.

Frequent enquiries include BMW 1 Series F20/F21, 2 Series F22/F23, 3 Series F30/F31/F34, M3 F80, 4 Series F32/F33/F36, M4 F82/F83, X models F15/F16/F25/F26/F48 and early G01/G02, G11/G12 and G30/G31/G32 vehicles. For MINI, F54 to F60 are common. This list is only a guide: vehicles within the same model series can use different infotainment systems.

For the 1 Series, 2 Series and M2, our F20/F21/F22/F23/F87 CarPlay guide explains the possible systems. For the Active Tourer and Gran Tourer, the F45/F46 CarPlay guide shows why the head unit, software level and Wi-Fi hardware must be checked separately. For the BMW 5 Series F10, F11 and F07, the F10/F11/F07 CarPlay guide explains when NBT EVO activation may be suitable and when CIC or NBT requires a hardware solution. The F32/F33/F36 CarPlay guide distinguishes NBT, NBT EVO, EntryNav, activation and hardware retrofitting for the BMW 4 Series. For the BMW 3 Series, the F30/F31/F34/F80 CarPlay guide separates activation, an ID4 flash and hardware retrofitting. For the BMW 5 Series, the G30/G31/F90 CarPlay guide distinguishes NBT EVO from MGU and the official ConnectedDrive route.

For the X models, the guides BMW X1 F48 CarPlay: systems and requirements and BMW X3 G01 CarPlay: NBT EVO or MGU? help distinguish activation, software work and hardware retrofitting before purchase. For the BMW X5, the X5 CarPlay guide separates E70, F15/F85 and G05/F95 as well as activation, flash work, MGU and hardware retrofitting.

NBT EVO with an ID5 or ID6 interface can often support CarPlay activation. An ID4 system may require an additional software flash. In that case, the separate NBT EVO ID4-to-ID6 service must be assessed. Our head-unit identification guide explains the differences between CIC, NBT, NBT EVO and MGU.

What is included?

  • Assessment of the vehicle data, head unit and software level
  • Activation and coding of the supported CarPlay function
  • Configuration of the available display mode, where supported by the head unit and software
  • Connection and menu-function check after activation
  • Personal assistance during the remote appointment

The service uses the existing head unit. It does not include an aftermarket CarPlay box. Installation work, a missing Wi-Fi antenna, hardware repairs or an ID4-to-ID6 flash are included only if they are explicitly ordered as a separate service.

What do we check before the appointment?

  • VIN or the last seven characters of the vehicle identification number
  • Model series, model year and production month
  • Current menu interface or a clear photo of the iDrive or MINI Connected display
  • Head-unit and software level, where it can be identified in advance
  • Existing Wi-Fi hardware and any previous modifications

A navigation screen or Bluetooth function alone does not prove that CarPlay can be activated. The description “NBT EVO” is also not enough for a binding confirmation without checking the software level and equipment.

Requirements for the remote session

  • Windows laptop and power supply
  • Stable internet connection
  • Suitable ENET cable between the OBD-II port and laptop
  • Stable vehicle voltage; longer programming work may require an appropriate external power supply
  • iPhone for the final connection test

Many activation sessions can be completed in approximately 20 to 60 minutes. If a software update, flash or additional diagnosis is required first, the appointment can take longer. The vehicle, laptop, network connection and voltage supply must not be interrupted during programming.

BMW and MINI: what is the difference?

BMW and MINI use related infotainment generations in different model years, but menu layouts and equipment are not always identical. Assessment therefore goes beyond the brand or model name. For MINI, see MINI F Series coding and our MINI F56 CarPlay retrofit guide; for BMW, see the F Series and G Series overviews.

Frequently asked questions

Does CarPlay work in every BMW or MINI with a large display?

No. Display size and Bluetooth equipment are not sufficient. The head unit, software level, market version and Wi-Fi requirements must be compatible.

Is fullscreen CarPlay always included?

No. Fullscreen depends on the software level and head unit. We check whether the installed configuration supports the requested display mode. Unsupported fullscreen functionality is not promised.

Do I need a Wi-Fi antenna?

Wireless CarPlay requires suitable Wi-Fi hardware. We check whether an appropriate antenna is already installed or whether hardware work is necessary.

Can an ID4 system receive CarPlay directly?

That depends on the specific NBT EVO unit and its software level. An ID4 system frequently needs an appropriate update first, which is assessed as a separate ID4-to-ID6 service.

Can the activation be reversed later?

A return to the previous state is possible in many configurations. Whether this applies to the individual vehicle and what work would be required are checked before the service. Universal reversibility is not guaranteed.

Please request a compatibility check before purchasing: Send the model, year, last seven VIN characters and a photo of the current menu interface via WhatsApp. We will confirm compatibility, required hardware and the appropriate service.

Want to assess which service suits your vehicle before booking? Our BMW and MINI coding price guide explains CarPlay, diagnostics, comfort functions, retrofits and control-unit services with specific price examples and scope limitations.

Does your older BMW or MINI system have Bluetooth or USB but no confirmed NBT EVO? Our Combox, Bluetooth audio and USB guide helps distinguish Combox, MULF/ULF, TCU and newer head units before booking CarPlay. Coding alone does not replace missing or incompatible hardware.
