Do you run an independent workshop, retrofit BMW or MINI vehicles, or have an installed component that still needs to be integrated into the vehicle configuration? For suitable projects, Bimmerfit supports professional businesses with pre-checks, remote diagnostics, coding and selected programming work.
Important: We are an independent service provider and not an authorised BMW or MINI workshop. Mechanical and electrical installation remains the responsibility of the business carrying out the work. Before starting, we check the vehicle, component, software level, connection method and specifically requested functional scope.
Support for workshops and retrofitters
Installation alone is often not sufficient for a retrofit. Depending on the vehicle order, control-unit network and model series, new equipment must be added to the vehicle configuration and coded in the affected modules. For used control units, the part number, origin, protection mechanisms, stored vehicle data and software level must also be considered.
Our support is intended for independent workshops, diagnostic businesses, car-audio and retrofit specialists, and professional vehicle preparers that carry out the installation themselves and need a specialist contact for software integration.
Typical projects
- Coding after installation of a compatible reversing camera or tow bar
- Integration of selected instrument clusters and navigation systems
- Checking and adapting used head units such as CIC, NBT or NBT EVO
- Pre-checking used transmission control units or EGS mechatronics
- Checking used EPS steering systems and supported adaptation procedures
- Remote diagnosis for unclear faults after installation or control-unit replacement
Related individual services are described under BMW control-unit adaptation. Every combination is checked separately; an identical vehicle type does not automatically mean that every component and software level is supported.
How an enquiry works
- Send the project data: Vehicle model, year, last seven VIN characters, existing equipment, retrofit objective and complete part numbers.
- Technical pre-check: We assess whether the project is supported in principle, which interface is required and which documents or photos are still missing.
- Installation and inspection: Your workshop installs the component correctly and checks the wiring, fuses, power supply and vehicle communication.
- Remote appointment: After confirmation, we connect to the prepared Windows laptop and carry out the agreed software work.
- Functional check: The workshop checks the agreed functions on the vehicle and reports any irregularities during or immediately after the appointment.
Information required in advance
- Model, series, year and last seven VIN characters
- A short description of the starting condition and desired result
- Photos of complete part numbers and, where available, the donor vehicle
- Whether the component has already been installed and appears in the diagnostic tree
- Available diagnostic interface and the laptop operating system
- Fault codes or a diagnostic report, if already read
Do not publish or send a complete VIN in publicly visible comments. For the initial technical classification, the final seven VIN characters are often sufficient; we request further data only where required for the assessment.
ENET, K+DCAN and technical requirements
Many BMW F- and G-series vehicles connect through a suitable ENET interface. Numerous BMW E-series and MINI R-series vehicles require K+DCAN/D-CAN or a different project-specific connection. The guide ENET or K+DCAN: which diagnostic cable fits? provides a practical overview.
A remote appointment generally requires a Windows laptop, stable internet connection, the previously confirmed interface and suitable voltage support. Vehicle voltage must not drop during coding or programming. We confirm the specific requirements for each project.
Used control units: check before installation
Used modules are not compatible merely because the connector and housing fit. The part number, index, hardware level, software family, stored vehicle data and protection mechanisms may restrict further use. We therefore recommend checking the data before purchase or final installation.
Clear responsibilities
Remote coding cannot correct faulty wiring, an unsuitable component or a mechanical defect. The business carrying out the work remains responsible for installation, electrical checks, workshop-equipment calibrations, roadworthiness and any required approvals. We carry out only the diagnostic, coding or programming scope agreed in advance.
The vehicle and parts must be used lawfully, and the customer must be authorised to commission the work. We may decline safety-relevant, unclear or technically unverifiable projects or request additional evidence.
Remote support worldwide
Suitable work can be carried out regardless of location. We agree the appointment and time zone in advance. The BMW remote coding page provides a general overview. Actual feasibility always depends on the vehicle, installed system and available equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Can Bimmerfit carry out the mechanical installation?
This page is intended for workshops and retrofitters that perform the mechanical and electrical installation themselves. Bimmerfit supports the agreed software part of the project.
Can every used BMW or MINI control unit be adapted?
No. Feasibility depends on the model series, part number, hardware and software level, stored vehicle data and existing protection mechanisms, among other factors. We therefore check every project first.
Which diagnostic cable is required?
ENET is used on many F- and G-series vehicles, while numerous E-series and MINI R-series vehicles use K+DCAN/D-CAN. A different connection may be required depending on the control unit and task. We confirm the appropriate interface before the appointment.
What happens if a retrofitted component is not detected?
The power supply, ground, bus connection, fuses, pin assignment and part compatibility must be checked first. Coding does not replace this technical fault-finding. If required, a remote diagnosis with ISTA can help narrow down the current condition.
Can you work with our workshop regularly?
Yes, recurring enquiries are possible. However, we do not give blanket approval for all vehicles or projects; follow-up jobs are also checked against the relevant vehicle and part data.
Is support available outside Germany?
Yes, provided the technical requirements are met and a suitable appointment can be agreed. Location alone does not determine feasibility.
How do we obtain a quotation?
Send the project data through WhatsApp or email. After the pre-check, we identify the appropriate service and included scope. Unclear additional work is not started without agreement.
