Do you drive a BMW M3 E90, E92 or E93 with the 7-speed M dual-clutch transmission and want a GTS-oriented transmission calibration assessed? Bimmerfit checks the vehicle, transmission and software level and performs the suitable transmission-software flash remotely. Compatibility depends on the installed M DCT, current data version and any previous modifications.

What does GTS DCT software mean for the M3 E9x?

The BMW M3 GTS was factory-equipped with a specific calibration of the 7-speed M DCT Drivelogic. For compatible M3 E9x vehicles, a corresponding GTS-oriented software configuration of the transmission control unit can be assessed. The adaptation affects control of the dual-clutch transmission and does not alter engine-output data.

Depending on the original version, shift logic, response and characteristics in the available drive programs may differ from the existing software. Actual behaviour depends on vehicle condition, software level and selected mode. A software flash does not turn a standard M3 into an M3 GTS and does not add its engine, suspension or brake components.

Suitable vehicles

  • BMW M3 E90 saloon with 7-speed M DCT
  • BMW M3 E92 coupé with 7-speed M DCT
  • BMW M3 E93 convertible with 7-speed M DCT

This service is not suitable for vehicles with the 6-speed manual transmission, other E9x engines or a different automatic transmission. A separate F8x DCT service is available for the M3 F80 and M4 F82/F83. Before ordering, we assess the last seven characters of the VIN and information about the current software level.

What is included in the remote service?

  • pre-assessment of model series, transmission version and known software level
  • remote connection and reading the data relevant to the order
  • flashing the compatible transmission control unit with the agreed data version
  • monitoring for technical anomalies during the process
  • final check of control-unit communication and existing fault entries
  • personal assistance during the appointment

Not included are engine software, a power increase, DCT repairs, clutch or oil service, vehicle modifications or road-approval inspection. Jerking, wear or stored transmission faults can have mechanical, hydraulic or electrical causes and are not automatically corrected by a flash.

Requirements for the E9x DCT flash

  • Windows laptop with power supply
  • stable internet connection
  • suitable K+DCAN/OBD USB cable confirmed in advance
  • suitable external voltage support for the vehicle
  • vehicle without unresolved transmission or voltage faults

We confirm the required cable version in advance. Our ENET and K+DCAN guide explains the difference from ENET. A fixed duration is not promised: data version, connection, diagnosis and required preparation affect the time. The laptop, vehicle, cable, internet connection and voltage support must not be interrupted during flashing.

How remote programming works

  1. You send the model, year, last seven VIN characters and details of earlier engine or transmission changes.
  2. We assess whether the vehicle, M DCT and available software version are suitable for this service.
  3. At the confirmed appointment, you connect the Windows laptop to the vehicle using the agreed cable.
  4. We read the relevant current state and perform the agreed flash where no technical objection is found.
  5. Afterwards, communication and fault memory are checked. The vehicle owner then performs a cautious functional test.

Use and responsibility

Control-unit software can be legally or contractually relevant depending on the vehicle, approval status, insurance contract and intended use. Before using the vehicle on public roads, the customer must clarify whether approvals, registration entries or notifications are required. Software changes can affect warranty or goodwill claims against vehicle or component manufacturers.

Whether the existing data version can be backed up or restored later is assessed on the specific vehicle. Blanket reversibility, freedom from faults or a particular change in driving behaviour is not promised.

Frequently asked questions

Does the GTS DCT flash increase engine output?

No. This service does not change the engine software. It concerns only the agreed software configuration of the M DCT.

Does the service work on every M3 E90, E92 and E93?

Only vehicles with the suitable 7-speed M DCT can be considered. The VIN, control unit and data version are therefore checked first.

Does the flash repair jerking or clutch problems?

Not automatically. Unusual shifting or stored faults may require separate diagnosis first.

Which cable do I need?

A suitable K+DCAN/OBD USB cable is normally required. The exact version is confirmed before the appointment; ENET is not the standard connection for this E Series service.

Can the software be restored later?

This depends on the existing data version and technical situation. We assess the possible route before flashing but do not provide a blanket restoration guarantee.

Request an assessment before ordering: Send the model, year, last seven VIN characters and known software changes by WhatsApp. Further services are listed under BMW E Series coding.
