Do you drive a BMW M3 F80 or M4 F82/F83 with the 7-speed M dual-clutch transmission and want a GTS-oriented transmission calibration assessed? Bimmerfit checks the software and vehicle status and performs the suitable transmission-software flash remotely. Compatibility depends on the installed transmission, current data version and previous modifications; the model name alone is not sufficient for a binding confirmation.
What does GTS DCT software mean?
The BMW M4 GTS was factory-equipped with a 7-speed M DCT and specifically adapted Drivelogic shift programs. For compatible F8x vehicles, a corresponding GTS-oriented software configuration of the transmission control unit can be assessed. It changes control of the dual-clutch transmission, not engine output.
Depending on the original version, shift logic, response and characteristics can differ from the existing software. The result depends on vehicle condition, data version and selected drive program. The flash does not turn an M3 or M4 into an M4 GTS and does not replace mechanical maintenance or repair.
Suitable vehicles
- BMW M3 F80 with 7-speed M DCT
- BMW M4 F82 coupé with 7-speed M DCT
- BMW M4 F83 convertible with 7-speed M DCT
This service is not suitable for manual-transmission vehicles, G80/G81/G82/G83 vehicles with 8-speed M Steptronic or other transmission versions. A separate E9x DCT service is available for the BMW M3 E90/E92/E93. Before ordering, we assess the last seven characters of the VIN and the current software level.
What is included in the remote service?
- pre-assessment of the vehicle, transmission version and known software level
- remote connection and reading the data relevant to the order
- flashing the compatible transmission control unit with the agreed data version
- monitoring for technical anomalies during the process
- final check of communication and existing fault entries
- personal assistance during the appointment
Not included are engine software, an additional power increase, DCT repairs, oil or clutch service, vehicle modifications or road-approval inspection. Existing mechanical problems are not repaired by a software change.
Requirements for the DCT flash
- Windows laptop with power supply
- stable internet connection
- suitable ENET cable between OBD-II and the laptop
- suitable external voltage support for the vehicle
- vehicle in technically sound condition
The duration is estimated only after pre-assessment. Software level, connection, diagnosis and any required preparation can change the time required. The laptop, internet connection, vehicle and voltage support must not be interrupted during flashing.
How the appointment works
- You send the model, year, last seven VIN characters and details of previously modified engine or transmission software.
- We assess whether this service is suitable for the vehicle and transmission.
- At the confirmed appointment, you connect the Windows laptop to the vehicle using the ENET cable.
- We read the relevant current state and perform the agreed flash where the assessment identifies no technical objection.
- Afterwards, communication and fault memory are checked; the vehicle owner then carries out a cautious functional test.
Use and responsibility
A control-unit software change can be legally or contractually relevant depending on the vehicle, approval status, insurance contract and intended use. Before using the vehicle on public roads, the customer must clarify whether additional approvals, registration entries or notifications are required. Organizer rules also apply to motorsport or track use. Software changes can affect warranty or goodwill claims against vehicle or component manufacturers.
Whether an existing software version can be backed up or restored later is assessed on the specific vehicle. Blanket reversibility or a particular driving behaviour is not promised.

Frequently asked questions
Does the GTS DCT flash increase engine output?
No. This service does not alter engine-output data. It concerns the dual-clutch transmission software.
Is the service suitable for every F80, F82 or F83?
Only vehicles with the suitable 7-speed M DCT can be considered. The software level and previous modifications are checked first.
Does the flash repair jerking, clutch wear or transmission faults?
Not automatically. Such symptoms can have mechanical, hydraulic or electrical causes. Existing faults require diagnosis first.
Can I use a MacBook?
A Windows laptop is required for the remote appointment. Virtual Windows systems or unstable adapter solutions are not approved by default.
How should I prepare the vehicle?
Provide sufficient space and time, stable voltage support, and a fully charged laptop with its power supply. Report tuning, control-unit replacement and previous flashing in advance.
Request an assessment before ordering: Send the model, year, last seven VIN characters and known software changes by WhatsApp. Further services are listed under BMW F Series coding.
