Have you imported a BMW from Japan or South Korea and want German menus plus compatible European navigation or region settings assessed? Bimmerfit identifies the vehicle, head unit, software and market version and performs the supported adaptations remotely. Japanese and Korean vehicles differ technically from US imports, so each vehicle is assessed individually.
Which settings can be adapted?
Depending on the model series and data version, German language, time and date format, and supported regional and menu settings can be changed. Vehicles from Japan and Korea normally already use metric units but may have different market parameters for navigation, radio, voice input, keyboard layout or online services.
Not every difference is a coding value. Radio frequency range, DAB reception, mobile-network module, antenna, eCall, ConnectedDrive and other services can depend on hardware, contract or the regional backend. Software adaptation does not create missing hardware and cannot guarantee the availability of market-bound services.
European navigation for CIC, NBT, NBT EVO, EntryNav and MGU
A navigation conversion requires a compatible head unit, correct map family, sufficient storage, suitable software and, where required, valid activation. The product options therefore distinguish between CIC, NBT/NBT EVO, EntryNav and MGU. Photos of the version screen and the VIN are more useful than display size alone.
A European map package or required activation is included only where this is expressly confirmed for the selected option after pre-assessment. Proprietary maps and licences are not obtained from unofficial sources. A simple update for an existing European system belongs to the navigation-map service.
Typical BMW model series
Assessment is possible for many E, F and G Series vehicles with CIC, NBT, NBT EVO, EntryNav/EntryNav2 or MGU. The model series alone does not confirm that a conversion is possible: production month, destination market, head-unit part number, current map region and previous modifications must be considered.
Our guide to BMW head units helps with initial identification. If the unit is unclear or retrofitted, the actual hardware is additionally read before the appointment.
The detailed guide to coding a Japan/Korea import explains language, radio, map region, ConnectedDrive and the boundary between software and hardware.
What is included in the remote service?
- pre-assessment of the VIN, model series, production date and original market
- identification of the head unit, map family and known software level
- reading the vehicle configuration relevant to the order
- conversion of the agreed language and supported regional settings
- navigation adaptation only within the confirmed scope of the selected option
- final check of the changed menus and functions
Not included are installation or replacement of radio, mobile-network, antenna or navigation hardware; changes to lighting or the speed display; registration documents or reports; permanent online services; or additional coding not agreed in advance.
Requirements and process
- Windows laptop with power supply
- stable internet connection
- suitable cable: K+DCAN/ICOM depending on the E Series vehicle, and ENET for many F and G Series models
- suitable external voltage support during programming or data transfer
- You send the VIN, year, country of origin, photos of the menu and map-version screens, and details of known modifications.
- We identify the head unit, required cable and realistic service scope.
- At the confirmed appointment, we connect to the Windows laptop and read the current state.
- The agreed adaptations are carried out only where the system and data version are suitable.
- Language, region and navigation are then checked within the agreed scope.
The time required depends on the head unit, software and necessary data transfer. A blanket duration is not promised before the system assessment.
Registration and import approval
Coding does not replace individual vehicle approval, roadworthiness inspection or required hardware adaptation. The vehicle owner must clarify with the inspection body and registration authority which documents and modifications are required for the specific imported vehicle. This applies particularly to lighting, radio and emergency-call systems, and other market-specific components.
Frequently asked questions
Can every Japanese or Korean import be converted completely to EU specification?
No. Software, hardware and market services differ. We confirm only the steps technically supported by the specific vehicle.
Why might the radio still not receive every station after coding?
The frequency range, tuner and antenna can differ by market. Coding cannot replace missing or unsuitable hardware.
Are German language and European maps the same thing?
No. Language, navigation region, map package and activation are separate items and are assessed individually.
Will ConnectedDrive and eCall work automatically afterwards?
Not necessarily. These services can depend on mobile-network hardware, market approval, contract and backend availability.
Which cable is required?
This depends on the model series, head unit and intended work. We assign K+DCAN, ICOM or ENET after pre-assessment.
Request an assessment before ordering: Send the last seven characters of the VIN, year, country of origin, a photo of the main menu and the map-version screen via WhatsApp.
