BMW & MINI Comfort Coding – Custom Remote Service

The BMW & MINI Comfort Coding package combines several supported convenience, display and control settings in one remote appointment. Before booking, Bimmerfit reviews your requested functions against the model series, equipment, control units and current software level.

This package is useful when you want to combine several smaller settings. It is not a blanket activation of “all hidden features”. Every vehicle has a different functional scope, and some options shown online require different hardware, software or market equipment.

Common comfort-coding requests

• Locking and convenience operation: supported automatic locking, selective unlocking and comfort opening or closing where the vehicle and local rules permit
• Exterior mirrors: folding behaviour and convenience control when electric folding motors and compatible door modules are present
• Displays: digital speed and selected model-dependent display information
• Control behaviour: supported memory, confirmation and iDrive settings
• Climate and seats: selected memory or operating options where the required equipment and modules are present
• Lighting convenience: selected welcome, interior or operating functions within the installed lighting hardware and local regulations

These examples are only a guide. A function is confirmed only after checking the VIN and vehicle data. Coding cannot replace missing switches, motors, sensors, lamps or control units.

Which vehicles can be checked?

Many BMW E-, F- and G-series vehicles and selected MINI R- and F-series vehicles can be assessed. Model and year alone are not sufficient; production month, optional equipment, control-unit generation and software level also matter.

The relevant vehicle-specific route is always checked before the appointment. A feature that works on another vehicle of the same series may still be unavailable because the equipment or software is different.

Extensive retrofits, diagnostic cases or software flashes are not silently added to this package. If a separate service is necessary, we identify it before purchase.

How to prepare a useful request list

Do not write only “code everything”. Describe the desired behaviour precisely, for example “fold the exterior mirrors when the lock button is held” or “show digital speed in the instrument cluster”. Add a photo or video when the function was seen in another vehicle.

For the pre-check, send:

• Last seven VIN characters
• Model, year and, if possible, production month
• A concrete and prioritised list of requested functions
• Photos of the instrument cluster and iDrive main menu for display requests
• Information about retrofits, replaced modules or previous coding
• Information about recent workshop software updates

Remote-session requirements

• Windows laptop with power supply and administrator rights
• Stable internet connection at the vehicle
• Correct diagnostic cable for the model series and task
• Vehicle capable of diagnosis without an active voltage or communication problem
• Sufficiently stable vehicle voltage during coding

Process

1. Send the VIN, vehicle data and prioritised request list via WhatsApp.
2. We check technical feasibility, required hardware and possible legal limitations.
3. You receive a cleaned list of confirmed functions before the appointment.
4. After personal appointment confirmation, connect the vehicle and laptop as instructed.
5. We read and document the starting state and code the agreed options.
6. You test every changed function with us.

Duration depends on the model series, control-unit accessibility and scope of the request list. A fixed time is confirmed only after the pre-check.

What happens after a workshop software update?

Vehicle programming, control-unit replacement or module reset can overwrite individual coding. This does not automatically mean that a component is defective. The functions available on the new software level must be reassessed.

It would not be technically responsible to guarantee that every change survives all future software updates. Keep the agreed request list and mention later workshop work when contacting us again.

Not included

• Installation or repair of missing or defective hardware
• CarPlay, FSC, navigation or ConnectedDrive activation
• Software flashing, control-unit programming or performance tuning
• Disabling legally required or safety-related systems
• Coding functions that the vehicle or equipment does not support
• Bypassing protected access, immobilisers or proof-of-ownership checks

Frequently asked questions

How many functions can I choose?

The package covers an agreed list in one appointment. Very extensive or technically separate work may require another service.

Are all functions shown online available on my vehicle?

No. Model series, equipment, modules and software differ. We confirm only options that match the individual BMW or MINI.

Can mirror folding be coded without electric folding mirrors?

No. Coding controls compatible hardware already installed; it cannot replace a missing motor or switch.

Is start-stop memory possible on every model?

No. Availability and permissible behaviour depend on the vehicle, software and market version and are checked individually.

Can a workshop visit remove the changes?

Normal maintenance usually does not. Vehicle programming or replacing a control unit can overwrite individual coding.

Does the service also cover MINI?

Selected MINI R- and F-series vehicles can be supported after the requested function, equipment and interface are checked.

Can every change be reversed?

The starting state is documented. Whether a setting can later be restored exactly depends on the software and control-unit state at that time and is not universally guaranteed.
