Apple CarPlay already works in your BMW or MINI but uses only part of the wide display? With this remote service, Bimmerfit checks the head unit, display and software level and enables the supported fullscreen layout on a compatible NBT EVO system.
Important: This product is only for CarPlay that is already activated and functioning. If CarPlay is not available at all, choose the BMW and MINI NBT EVO CarPlay activation. If the iPhone no longer connects, the fault should be diagnosed before changing the display layout.
Fullscreen, activation, flashing and repair are different services
- CarPlay fullscreen: expands the display of an existing CarPlay system where the head unit and software support it.
- CarPlay activation: enables the function on a compatible NBT EVO where it has not yet been activated.
- ID4-to-ID6 flash: may prepare a different software basis on suitable ID4 hardware and is a separate service.
- Fault diagnosis: is required when CarPlay previously worked but now fails to pair, crashes or cannot establish Wi-Fi.
A fullscreen adjustment does not repair a faulty Wi-Fi antenna, unstable head unit or damaged wiring.
When is this service suitable?
- Apple CarPlay already connects to a compatible iPhone.
- Apps are displayed but remain in split-screen view.
- The vehicle has a suitable NBT EVO and compatible software level.
- The display format and vehicle configuration support fullscreen.
- You want the adjustment carried out remotely.
Suitable BMW vehicles and selected MINI F-series vehicles with related NBT EVO technology can be checked. A wide display, tile menu or “Road Map EUROPE EVO” map name alone does not prove fullscreen compatibility.
How are ID4, ID5 and ID6 assessed?
NBT EVO exists with different hardware and software levels. ID5 and ID6 are closely related, while an ID4 system may need a separate flash before certain functions become possible. The EVO map family does not by itself confirm the user interface or fullscreen capability.
Our NBT EVO identification guide explains the main differences. A confirmed ID4 system that first needs preparation is assessed through the separate ID4-to-ID6 service.
Included
- Check of VIN, model, head unit, display and current software level
- Confirmation that CarPlay is already correctly activated
- Documentation of the relevant initial configuration
- Configuration of the supported fullscreen layout
- Head-unit restart and joint function test
- Personal assistance during the confirmed remote appointment
The service changes the display layout. Available apps, controls and CarPlay features remain dependent on the iPhone, iOS, vehicle and individual app.
Information required in advance
- Last seven VIN characters, model, year and production month
- Photo of the iDrive main menu and complete navigation version
- Photo of the current CarPlay split-screen display
- Information about previous head-unit, display or software changes
- iPhone model and iOS version if connection problems also exist
Remote-session requirements
- Compatible NBT EVO with functioning Apple CarPlay
- Windows laptop with power supply and administrator rights
- Suitable ENET cable and, where needed, a reliable USB-to-Ethernet adapter
- Stable internet connection at the vehicle
- Sufficiently stable vehicle voltage
Wireless CarPlay requires Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to be enabled. If pairing itself does not work, follow Apple’s current CarPlay troubleshooting guidance and send us the exact symptom before booking.
Process
- Send the VIN and required photos via WhatsApp.
- We assess NBT EVO, software level, display and the existing CarPlay function.
- If activation, a software update or a flash is needed first, we identify the separate scope before purchase.
- After personal appointment confirmation, connect the vehicle and laptop using ENET.
- We document the starting state, apply the agreed change and restart the head unit.
- You test the CarPlay connection, apps and fullscreen display with us.
Duration depends on connection quality, software level and starting configuration. A required head-unit flash is not silently included in the fullscreen service.
When is a software update needed?
Older NBT EVO software may not support the requested fullscreen layout. A separate NBT EVO software update can then be required. Flashing has different requirements, takes longer and needs a particularly reliable external vehicle power supply.
Not included
- Initial CarPlay activation or installation of missing Wi-Fi hardware
- ID4-to-ID6 flash, navigation-map update or other infotainment functions
- Repair of a faulty head unit, antenna, wiring or connection
- Changes to incompatible CIC, NBT, EntryNav or MGU systems
- Guaranteed compatibility with future iOS or app versions
Frequently asked questions
Is fullscreen the same as CarPlay activation?
No. Fullscreen expands the layout of an already functioning system. Initial activation is a separate service.
Does fullscreen work on every NBT EVO?
No. Hardware, display, software level and configuration must be suitable.
Can fullscreen be enabled on MINI?
Selected MINI F-series vehicles with compatible NBT EVO can be checked individually.
Why does my iPhone not connect?
That is not only a display issue. iPhone settings, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, pairing, antenna, activation and the head unit must be considered separately.
Can the change be reversed?
The starting state is documented. Whether and how it can later be restored depends on the software and vehicle state at that time; universal reversibility is not guaranteed.
Request a fullscreen check first: Send the VIN and photos of the main menu, navigation version and current CarPlay display via WhatsApp.
A fullscreen adjustment does not repair a defective Wi-Fi antenna or an unstable head unit. Our guide to missing CarPlay and split-screen display helps distinguish these cases. If wireless pairing itself fails, consult Apple’s CarPlay troubleshooting guidance and send us the exact symptom before booking.
